World Child Cancer
World Child Cancer improves curative and palliative treatment for some of the poorest children in the world who have cancer. We work in low and middle income countries to save the lives of chidlren with curable cancer and reduce the suffering of those who are incurable. We do this by developing international twinning partnerships between hospitals in developed and developing countries to transfer vital medical expertise and skills. Funding is used for drugs, medical training programmes, improvements to facilities, raising awareness about child cancer and staff costs.
Orphans of Ghana
Orphans of Ghana is a non profit Charity set up by volunteers who have lived in Ghana supporting orphans in their fight for survival. We have one vision, to provide innocent children who are victims of poverty with opportunities enabling them to unlock their potential both physically and mentally. As our message spreads and our work grows we will be able to help children at other orphanages, and we aim to eventually improve the lives of all orphaned children in Ghana. Help us to help them...

The Girl with The White Balloon is ON THE RUN

Thushani Jayawardena

My page:

Oh heyyyyy! It's Shani here (The Girl with The White Balloon). Thanks for giving this a click :D

So here's the jist of it on a need to know basis:

1. I don't have a sporting bone in my body. Not one. Sports day was just a nightmare for me. Although I did fare well in the egg & spoon race....

2. I am about to monumentally shake things up, and challenge myself to run not one, but TWO HALF MARATHONS in October this year, for 2 great charities that are close to my heart: World Child Cancer & Orphans of Ghana

3. Through this very nifty Virgin Money Giving Page, you can sponsor me (if you're feeling generous!) and donations will be quickly processed and passed to my chosen charities. I'm going for a round goal of £1000, but I reckon with a little help from my friends, I can top this EASY!

ALSO: As many of you may already know - I have recently entered the blogosphere, and have launched my own campaign called The White Balloon, which is all about using fashion to make a difference and raise lots of money for charity. You can stay up to date with my fashionably charitable posts from the blog feed (below)

AND that as they say, is THAT.

At present, running for about 20 minutes has me on the floor close to passing out, so I'm hoping the next 5 months of intense training will fix this...

I will be keeping you up to date with all of my fundraising antics, which are reason enough to keep visiting this page. Miss that CRAZY photo evidence, and you'll have missed out.

I really appreciate all your support guys & dolls, and MASSIVE THANK YOUUUUUS for any donations (whatever shape or size they may be).

Lots of sweet loving,

UPDATE: It's now 3rd spetember, and I have managed 9 miles of running in one session without passing out (who knew that was possible?!) so with a lot more hard training I will hopefully be able to make it on race day! Less than 5 weeks to go now!
