The Snowdon Award Scheme
Every year, The Snowdon Award Scheme provides students who have a physical or sensory disability, with grants ranging from £250 to £2,500. These help cover additional costs, like computers, mobility equipment or human help that push up the already high costs of being a student or trainee. Whether they fund a sign language interpreter, someone to take notes, a laptop with special software or other assistive technology, carer's accommodation, transport or something more specific, our grants can change people's lives. They provide students with the opportunity to access education or training and enjoy a level of independence that would not otherwise be possible. Anyone with a physical or sensory impairment who is undertaking a course of further or higher education or other vocational training can apply to us for help with their disability-related study costs.

As Lord Snowdon’s club, CUBC is particularly delighted to take part in this event.  Through his charity, Lord Snowdon has demonstrated a long-term commitment to improving the lives of disabled students.  We applaud the success of the Snowdon Award Scheme and hope that all those connected to rowing at Cambridge will support this event.

Our team of current students and old Blues will be very strong, and will include Tom James, Olympic Champion and CUBC President in 2007.  We fully intend that the Snowdon Rowing Challenge trophy will make its home at Goldie Boathouse in Cambridge!
