Charities
Dorothy House Hospice Care supports 1,500 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life threatening conditions every year. It is the only charity providing free specialist nursing care at home for people with life-threatening illness in Bath, north and west Wiltshire and north east Somerset. Most of our care is provided in people’s own homes, as that is where the majority of our patients prefer to be. Short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley, near Bath. To make sure patients have the best possible quality of life, pain and symptom relief, respite for carers, emotional and spiritual support and day care are all provided free of charge. The vast majority of the hospice’s income, 81 per cent, is spent directly on patient care. A further 10 per cent goes on education, which indirectly benefits patients by training Dorothy House staff and other health care professionals.
We exist to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer, both those living with cancer and also their families and carers. Our primary focus is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.

John O'Groats tae Lands End
Hello, thanks for visiting my page.
At the beginning of June I will be cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise money for two cancer charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Dorothy House Hospice.
Like too many in this country, my family has been affected by cancer. My cousin died from it a few years ago and now another family member is also fighting it.
Cancer charities such as Macmillan and Dorothy House provide invaluable support, advice and care for cancer sufferers and their families but they rely on the generosity and support of the public to fund their important work.
The dignity and quiet determination with which people with cancer face that terrible illness has inspired me to undertake this once in a lifetime challenge. I want to do what I can to help and pay tribute to them.
Having been in training since the beginning of the year, I expect to complete the 949 mile ride in two weeks, cycling nearly 70 miles each day. With all the hills and mountains on the way, I will climb nearly 43,000 feet - that's about one and half times the height of Mount Everest!
Staying with friends and family along the way, I will be cycling on my own, without backup, which means I will have to carry everything I'll need during the trip - including tools and spares in case of a breakdown. My route passes through Kirriemuir, so I'm looking forward to getting a good night's rest in my own bed!
This page will allow you to follow my progress as I cycle from one end of the country to the other and, more importantly, to sponsor me! I do hope you will consider supporting me, Macmillan Cancer Support and Dorothy House Hospice.
Thanks
Stephan
