Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group
Survival for children with cancer and leukaemia has improved from 10% in 1970 to around 75%. The clinical trials and laboratory research conducted by members of Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) has been a major factor in this. The CCLG is the only charity dedicated to supporting the work of those looking after children and teenagers with these life-threatening illnesses. The Group is committed to research and development in the treatment of cancer in these age groups. But although childhood cancer treatment is, rightly regarded as a great success, it should not be forgotten that still today three out of ten children diagnosed with cancer will not survive their disease. The ultimate aim of CCLG is to maximise cure while minimising the early and late side effects of treatment. Information for families of children with cancer is an important issue and to help support both the children and their families we produce a wide range of award winning publications which are available free of charge. Caring for children and curing their cancer remains our goal.

Sue's 2010 London Marathon

Fundraiser:
Sue Ablett

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SueAblett1

Running the London Marathon in April 2010 represents a lifetime ambition.  Mindful that it will be about 25 years since my last, and only ever marathon, and with about a 20 year gap in my running career, the time clearly won’t be too quick – the aim is to run all the way, complete the course, and enjoy every minute of the experience.  Training is going well – one half marathon in the bag recently, so confidence slowly growing!  Thanks to anyone who chooses to support me and my chosen charity – the Children’s Cancer and Leukamia Group. As I have covered the cost of entry myself, please be assured that all funds raised will go to CCLG.

It has now been agreed that the sponsorship money raised will be used to support production of a new CCLG booklet on sport and exercise for children and young people with cancer. A great addition to the CCLG publications.

Well, its over and I did it!!  Loved every minute, and ran all the way.  Quite happy with finish time - 4.53.49.  Finish position was 24,937 - out of about 36,000 finishers.  Thanks to all my supporters.

My page will remain open to donations until 1st October and any further sponsors will be very gratefully received.
