Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

Carol Beckett is lucky to be alive. In 2007, she found she had a rare liver cancer and was given 1 year to live. She was told she would need a liver transplant to survive.

Due to a shortage of organ donors,Carol feared she would die before an organ from a dead donor became available.

She then found out that a new procedure, called a living donor liver transplant was available. This was where part of a liver from a living person could be transplanted into the person needing the transplant.

3 members of Carol's family came forward to be tested- her brother Stephen was found to be most suitable. At a risk to his own life, Stephen saved Carol's life in a 10 hour operation in 2008.

There is a chronic shortage of organ donors in the U.K. and consequently over 1,000 people die each year whose lives could have been saved by a transplant.

Sister, Sue Strang, will be running in the Virgin London Marathon 2010 on behalf of the Live Life then Give Life charity. Her dream is that other families may experience the joy of having their loved ones with them for longer.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
