Cardiac Risk In The Young - Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. 2010 Great North Swim

04 September 2010

The premier outdoor swim event in the UK. Inspiration of the British Gas Great Swim series. Voted 5th top open-water swim in the world (2008.) A one-mile outdoor swim in beautiful Windermere, Cumbria. In 2009, an impressive 6,000 swimmers took part over two days. Open to swimmers of all abilities. See some of the world’s top swimmers compete against one another, across the same one mile course as the masses, in the elite race. Highlights shown on TV. £35 to enter- includes your entry fee, event pack (Great Swim swim hat to keep and timing chip), Great Swim souvenir medal and t-shirt, not to mention the huge sense of achievement. Limited places-don’t be left on the watersedge enter early to avoid disappointment.

THE ORGANISERS HAVE POSTPONED THE SWIM SCHEDULED FOR SEP 4TH & 5TH DUE TO BLUE-GREEN ALGAE MAKING SWIMMING UNSAFE.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT TONY & MATTHEW HAVE ENTERED THE GREAT SALFORD SWIM IN MANCHESTER ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 26TH 2010.

Thank you for donating to the "Laura Hillier Memorial Fund" at  CRY in memory of my daughter Laura Hillier who died in June 2003 from an undiagnosed heart condition called ARVC.

Tony Hillier and family friend Matthew Otten are raising money this year by swimming in the British Gas Great North Swim across Lake Windemere on Sunday 5th Sep 2010.

Our aim is for one of us to be within half an hour of former Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham's time, who is also swimming in aid of CRY on Saturday 4th September.
