Links International Trust
Established in 1985 as a registered charity, Links International works with partners in the west and in developing countries to educate, empower, resource and inspire individuals and communities to break free from the cycle of poverty. This is achieved through community healthcare, micro-enterprise development, training resources, income-generating projects and strategic partnerships. The result is holistic and sustainable. Links provides project support, oversight, and strategic advice to its partners. Accountability is key to ensure successful, sustainable projects. Links invests time and resources in project visits, communication and financial reporting. ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’ (Chinese Proverb) We love teaching people how to fish but believe that, if they are not given a fishing rod, they may still starve. That’s why Links ‘links’ education to practical projects with a strategy that, quite literally, save lives.

UPDATE FEB 2016:  After really bad weather back in September 2015 my channel swim was postponed indefinately!!!  In January 2016 I received notice that my NEW CHANNEL WINDOW would be between 27th-31st July 2016... so training is well underway.  Pleae consider sponsoring me - every £1 will transform someone's life!  Thank you!

ORIGINAL TEXT...

In September 2015 I will be attempting to swim the English Channel SOLO.

My aim, other than swimming through 21 miles of one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world in 'skins' - which means to wear only one pair of shorts, one swim cap and one pair of goggles... NO WETSUIT!!!, in sea at an average temperature of 15-17ºC, is to raise money in support of Links International and their projects to get safe water to communities across the world.

The challenge is to #swimforsafewater

Thank you for taking a look at my virgingiving website - as you come back throughout the year you'll find lots of information about my training and find out more about the Links International projects that your sponsorship is supporting.

Every day you and I, and most of our friends and family, have the ability to simply turn a tap to get fresh, clean water.  There are some people in the world who are not able to do that - and many of them are dying as a result.  Here's the thing - you and I can make a REAL difference - there IS the technology and ability to STOP this and give communities access to clean water.

I'm doing my bit by swimming - PLEASE will you give what you can, every £1 will make a BIG difference, and join our #swimforsafewater team.

Thank you!
