Charity

The Book Trade Charity
The Book Trade Charity (BTBS), established 1837, is the trades own welfare charity, offering help to anyone who has worked in the trade for more than one year (employed, self-employed or freelance) in a range of roles across publishing, distribution and bookselling and who has a problem, whether personal, financial or health related. The Charity offers direct financial assistance to individuals in need through its Grants programme, giving one hundred thousand pounds in 2012 and subsidised housing for some three dozen at Kings Langley in Hertfordshire. BTBS helps around 200 people a year, in circumstances which include disability, long-term illness, redundancy, debt including rent arrears, poverty, carer situations.

Hello!
We are racing to raise money for BTBS The Book Trade Charity.
They're an incredibly important charity who reach out to book trade people and their dependants to offer confidential support, advice and guidance in time of need, and to help relieve need and distress caused by:
financial difficulties, including debt and rent arrears
poverty, low household income and lack of savings
emergencies and unexpected events
illness (including long-term or terminal), disability, carer situations or bereavement
the impact of redundancy/unemployment and other adverse social or economic issues
They are also fundamental partners in the Carole Blake Open Doors Project, which seeks to help people who want to break into publishing through non 'traditional' routes.
BTBS gives over £100,000 each year (a number on the rise in these uncertain times), and your donation could be the difference in them saying 'yes' to an application. Dig deep - don't make them have to say 'no'.
Sub-amateur plodders, very competetive with one another, we will be racing and are both aiming for solid times:
Tom 00:43:00
Jaime 00:45:00
If we beat the times above (picture evidence will be forthcoming), consider digging deeper into those dungarees - donation lines are open for three months post-race.
And if you're in town on the day - pop down & show us some support!
See you at the finish line,
Tom & Jaime

And if you're in town on the day - pop down & show us some support! I'm sure we'll find our way to a pub nearby...

See you at the finish line,
