Asthma UK is the only charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the 5.4 million people in the UK whose lives are affected by asthma. We fund vital research, health information materials and essential services for people with asthma, including the Asthma UK Adviceline and Kick Asthma holidays for children with asthma.

2010 Virgin London Marathon

25 April 2010

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

Liz, will be running on behalf of Asthma UK, with close ties being a sufferer herself together with many members of her family.  1 in 2 people suffer from this illness so if you don’t suffer it is more than likely you know someone who does.    The shocking truth is it kills 1 person every six hours.  Therefore the money Liz hopes to raise will fund further research to help understand more about the causes of Asthma and to help free people with Asthma from its effects. 

 

Sarah, will be running on behalf of the Multiple Sclerosis  Research Centre, this is a charity close to Sarah’s heart as her Father In Law suffers from this illness.  MSRC is a pro-active and innovative charity, committed to supporting anyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis, providing information and advice, support that Sarah feels is hugely important to help people directly affected by MS and their families maintain a good quality of life.
