Weldmar Hospicecare Trust - Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is an independent charity working in Dorset. All our services are provided free of charge. 70% of the funds we need is raised locally; the rest is given by the NHS. We are the only agency providing specialist palliative care in north, south and west Dorset. Our job is to support people in Dorset affected by cancer and other life-limiting diseases, largely at the end of life. We work both with patients and their families. We also provide respite services for people with complex long-term progressive conditions. As the only specialist agency in the area we also educate our colleagues in primary care and the acute and independent sectors on how to deliver high quality generalist palliative care. We support patients living at home through our specialist nursing service , social groups and day hospices in Weymouth, Dorchester and Shaftsbury. People needing in-patient services come to Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester for symptom control, respite or end of life care. We use doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a chaplain, complementary therapists, art and music therapists, social workers, bereavement workers and over 250 patient care volunteers to do our work.

Paws in the Park

Join us for a 5 mile sponsored walk through the beautiful grounds of Lulworth Castle, starting at 10am. Registration costs just £5 per dog. In exchange for this and at least £30 sponsorship, we'll give you a goodie bag, including: - a printed bandana for each dog - doggie treats - competitor's medal The Top Dog: The dog who raises the highest amount in sponsorship will feature on next year's publicity (pictured is 2008 and 2009 highest sponsored dog - Bonnie).
