Kent Association For The Blind - KAB supports sight impaired people to live independent lives. We are the main providers of help and support for blind and partially-sighted people throughout Kent, Medway and Bromley, with over 15,000 people using our services. We work with adults, children, people with learning disabilities, people who are deafblind or have other multiple disabilities, and we also offer advice and help to their families, friends and work colleagues. It can take time to adjust to changing circumstances. Our experienced staff give a highly personalised service and find ways to overcome the difficulties and encourage people to lead fulfilling lives, whatever their interests. As well as emotional support, we provide sight impairment registration, explanation of your eye condition and its effects, assessment of individual needs, advice on benefits and concessions, help with low vision aids, and advice on special equipment and minor adaptations. Training and advice can be given on independent living, to help mobility, communication, computer skills, returning to the workplace, and leisure and hobbies. We run courses on cooking and daily living skills, and also produce a free regional news service, Kent Talking News, which is distributed to 2,000 households in our area. 2010 Virgin London Marathon

25 April 2010

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page, Team Hughes. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to our charity, The Kent Association for the Blind.

We have chosen to support the KAB because of the excellent support and help they provide to people who are blind or are losing their sight. Our good friend Simon, lost his sight through a terrible car accident a few years ago, and the KAB have really helped him to regain his independence and live his life more fully again.

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
