Pregnancy Sickness Support
Pregnancy Sickness Support is a registered UK charity working to improve care, treatment and support for women suffering from Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy (NVP) and the severe form of the condition; Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). We are currently a small charity and we rely heavily on donations and fund-raising from sufferers and the work of volunteers. We are setting up a national support network for sufferers and raising awareness about the Nausea and Vomiting in pregnancy and Hyperemesis Gravidarum with the public, the media and Health Care Professionals (HCP's). We are also involved in ongoing research into the cause and treatment of NVP and HG and the psychological impact for sufferers and their families. We host an annual conference for Pregnancy Sickness and we are developing online training course for both volunteers and HCP's. Long term we would like to see the charity grow to reflect the national need for support for these conditions and to improve awareness and eductation regarding the conditions.

My page:

Thank you for visiting our Team PSS fundraising page,

On Sunday 4th June, a team of Pregnancy Sickness Support trustees, volunteers and their families will be taking part in the 8.5 mile Great Midlands Fun Run. For many of us, it will be the first time we have run anything like this distance and it will be a major challenge to cross that finish line.

We are taking on this challenge because we have all been affected in some way by hyperemesis gravidarum, whether as a sufferer, carer, survivor or medical expert, and because we are all passionate about the work that Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS) does to support sufferers and their families.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a severe form of pregnancy sickness which is physically and mentally debilitating. It causes severe weight loss, malnutrition and dehydration and can also lead to depression. Sadly, many sufferers find their experience of pregnancy so traumatic that they are left with symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

PSS receives 50 calls per week from women in desperate need of help, and at any given time 100 women across the country are receiving one-to-one peer support through the charity's network of unpaid volunteers. These are former sufferers who want to help others with the same condition. The charity's trustees are also working with healthcare professionals and are involved in research to improve the care that women with severe pregnancy sickness receive. This too is done on a voluntary basis.

PSS receives no external funding and relies entirely on personal donations.

Every penny donated to PSS will be used to help women through what they describe as a horrendous and debilitating experience. Without donations, the charity simply will not be able to carry on with this vital work.

Any donations would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
