Charity
This year Rainbow Trust celebrates its 25th anniversary. Founded in 1986, we have now supported thousands of families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. With the help of the families who share their inspirational stories about the difference Rainbow has made to their lives, we have been able to raise our profile and tell more people about the valuable work that we do. From the humble beginnings of two staff and a kitchen table to work from, Rainbow is now a national charity and supports approximately 1000 families across England. Thanks to the dedication and hard-work of staff and volunteers, Rainbow continues to grow year on year and makes progress towards achieving its vision that one day all terminally ill children and their families will have access to a Rainbow carer. To mark this anniversary, Rainbow will be holding special profile raising fundraising activities to make this year our most successful yet.

Team Rainbow - running for families in need
Hello, and thanks from everyone at Rainbow Trust for visiting our fundraising page!
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support for families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Team Rainbow is raising funds for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity by taking part in the iconic Great North Run on 16th September 2012.
Team Rainbow is made up of people from all over the North East who are running the Great North Run this year, fundraising for Rainbow Trust, including :
- Tess, our regional fundraiser for the North East!
- Paula, one of our Family Support Workers!
- Alex, one of our volunteers!
- Sir Hugh Blackett, one of our Patrons!
And there will be over 100 other runners who are supporting Rainbow Trust at the Great North Run!
They rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, and through the generosity of its supporters they are able to help over 1,000 families a year. Many of those families are right here in the North East.
They help in practical ways, such as taking families to hospital appointments for treatment, running a 24-hour helpline or offering care and support in the family's own home. They can also help with emotional support, helping the family (including siblings and grandparents) to deal with the illness, and helping the whole family through bereavement where necessary.
Team Rainbow is trying to raise £10,000 to help Rainbow Trust carry on its vital work, and reach more families in the North East. Please help us by sponsoring us to run the Great North Run this year.
Thank you for your support.
If you have your own place in the Great North Run and would like to join Team Rainbow, please do get in touch at greatnorthrun@rainbowtrust.org.uk.
