Guide Dogs
The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of blind and partially sighted people never leave home alone. Guide Dogs empowers visually impaired people to do that and relies totally on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service. We breed and train guide dogs which provide life changing mobility and there are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK. The full lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is £48,500. We will not rest until blind and partially sighted people can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
Myeloma UK
Registered as a charity in 1997, Myeloma UK is the leading UK cancer organisation dealing specifically with myeloma and its related disorders. Our broad and innovative range of services cover every aspect of myeloma, from information and support to improving standards of treatment and care through research, education, campaigning and raising awareness. Our strategy is to take an integrated approach to systematically address the barriers and challenges that are slowing down myeloma research and the development of, and access to, new treatments, optimal care, information and support.

Thanks for visiting my Fundraising page. I'd like to provide a little bit of information as to why I have chosen to support my chosen charities.

Guide Dogs

During 2013 I was reminded just how much the majority of us rely on the gift of sight and how much many of us take it for granted.  I was lucky enough to undergo laser eye surgery which gave me 20/20 vision and the whole experience hit home just how delicate the eye is and what it means to be able to see clearly.  For some, even corrective surgery is not an option and the luxury of even reaonable eye sight is not available.  For these people, receiving a Guide Dog can really be a life changing event meaning that they can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.

75% of all money raised via this fundraising page will go to the Guide Dogs charity, which not only breeds, trains and distributes guide dogs to blind and partially sighted people, but also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment & educates the public about eye care and fund eye disease research

Myeloma UK

Those who remember last year's Bike Coast 2 Coast event will know that myself and several others raised a sum of money for this charity which is very dear to my family.  This year I wanted to continue this support in order to keep in mind those who have been and continue to be affected by this illness.

25% of the sum raised through this page will go to Myeloma UK.

Organ Donation

The third and final organisation that I would like to mention will not receive any money from this 'giving page', hopefully they will receive something that money just cannot buy!

I would urge anybody reading this to add their name to the organ donation register
