The Big Climb

Big Change loves a challenge and in that spirit, we are going to be taking on one of the most sought after summits in the world - Mont Blanc. This historic peak is the highest in Western Europe, towering at nearly 4,810 metres above sea level and is going to be a real test of our stamina, determination and teamwork. We have been working hard in the last few months to make sure we are mentally and physically prepared for anything Mont Blanc has to throw at us and can’t wait to get out there and get stuck in. This is the first time we have all got together for an event like this since our marathon caterpillar run in 2010 and we’re doing it to launch Big Change Charitable Trust, a charity that helps young people in the UK be the very best that they can be. We have all played a big part in building and growing Big Change and seeing it all come together with the Big Climb is really exciting. Big Change loves a challenge and in that spirit, we got together to take on one of the most sought after summits in the world - Mont Blanc. This historic peak is the highest in Western Europe, towering at nearly 4,810 metres above sea level and it really tested every ounce of our stamina, determination and teamwork. We were working hard in the months leading up to the climb to make sure we were mentally and physically prepared for anything Mont Blanc had to throw at us and while we didn’t all make it up, we did give it our best shot.

This is the first time we have all got together for an event like this since our London Marathon Caterpillar Run in 2010 and we did it to launch Big Change.  We have all played a big part in building and growing Big Change and seeing it all come together with the Big Climb is really exciting.

It was an exhausting week in the mountains and we were all tested in ways that none of us really expected. Altitude does strange things to your brain and to your body and for about a week we had to get used to operating in difficult conditions with little sleep, food, water or oxygen. That said, we all really enjoyed the experience and on Friday 7th September at about 9am, seven of our group made it to the summit of Mont Blanc. It was an incredible week away and you can see all of the pictures and hear more about the expedition in Hello Magazine.

We are determined to make the experience really count and can’t wait to see the effect that some of the funds raised will have on the charitable projects that we are supporting.
