Charity
Attending school is not a priority for most underprivileged children in Africa. Many parents cannot afford basic food supplies to feed their families, therefore children spend their days scavenging for food on the streets rather than developing an education. Many schools receive no help from the government and so struggle to provide food and basic educational materials. Nia Children’s Foundation works with local African suppliers to provide food supplies and educational materials to non-government run schools in Africa’s poorest areas. This ensures that children attend school and receive regular meals enabling them to become healthier and more focused in class. The word Nia means life’s purpose in Swahili, the language spoken in Kenya. In our eyes ensuring these children are healthy and receiving an education allows them to provide for themselves in the future... this is our life’s purpose. YOUR £5 CAN HELP FEED AND EDUCATE ONE CHILD FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH Please visit our website for further information about our project.

The Long Way East
Hi all,
My name is Erwann and this is it! I'm back in London after completing a bike journey accross the Asian continent.
First stop: Istanbul, where I flew to from Heathrow Airport on the 7th September 2011...
241 days and more than 10K kilometers later I finally arrived in Singapore!
Although it’s been a personal project from the start, I got to know Nia Children's Foundation and about its work and it really appealed to me.
It's a down-to-earth small charity focused on children's education in a rural school in Kenya, and I strongly believe education is key to development.
So thanks to all the donors and the future ones. My trip might be over but Nia's journey is far from it.
Thanks,
Erwann.
