Charity

Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Over half of all cancer research in the UK is carried out by our scientists. We have discovered new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer that together have saved millions of lives across the world. We have been at the heart of the progress that has already seen survival rates double in the last thirty years. But one in three of us will still get cancer at some point in our lives. Our groundbreaking work, funded entirely by the public, will help ensure that millions more people will survive.

THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S II SWIM TEAM FUNDRASING PAGE

1 SWIM, 1 TEAM, 56 MILES, TO RAISE £1 MILLION FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK’s LIFE SAVING WORK

Sir Richard Branson and Ronan Keating are taking on the ultimate challenge of captaining a relay team of 10 to swim the Irish Sea and raise £1 million for Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK are delighted to announce that Samsung has become headline sponsor of our first ever celebrity led fundraising challenge.  As part of its sponsorship, Samsung has pledged to donate £3,500 for every mile the team completes. The team, which aims to set off on Wednesday 31 September from Holyhead, will be recording their experiences on their Galaxy S II Smartphone and the Galaxy 10.1 tablet.

Frances Milner, Supporter Led Fundraising Director, Cancer Research UK, said: “We are delighted to have Samsung on board as our headline sponsor.  We have a great team who are all motivated by our aim to raise £1million.  Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and so events like this are vital for raising money for our lifesaving work.”

Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “It’s an ambitious target for an ambitious challenge and we encourage all customers to get behind the team and donate whatever they can to help reach the £1 million target for such a worthwhile cause.”
