Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity
For over 30 years Sands has supported many thousands of families whose babies have died, offering emotional support, comfort and practical help. We have also worked with health professionals to revolutionise the way in which bereaved parents and their babies are cared for. In spite of medical advances, the tragic fact is that 17 babies a day in the UK are stillborn or die within the first twenty eight days of life. The equivalent of 16 fully-laden jumbo jets crashing every year, with no survivors. We have therefore launched our Why17? campaign to raise awareness of the 17 babies dying every day in the UK and to raise much needed funds towards research which could provide further information on why so many babies are dying.
Hollingdean Development Trust
To support the continuing regeneration of Hollingdean through its management of community assets, the provision of local services and the creation of new responses to community needs.

Hello

Thank you for visiting our page to remember our baby girl.

On Tuesday 31st August 2010, our daughter Tia was born sleeping at 41 weeks.  She is our first child and is much loved and missed every moment of every day.

In Tia's name we wanted to support the community we live in and be able to make a positive difference to local children.  And so Tia's Trees was developed - to improve our local park (Hollingdean Park) for local children to enjoy.  Phase One has been completed and involved around 100 new trees and shrubs being planted to improve the look of the park (photos included in the photo gallery). Phase Two resulted in 40 cherry plum trees and hundreds of wildflowers being planted and a bench with a dedication to Tia being installed in June (fingers crossed) and then perhaps more trees, a picnic bench and information/display boards in Phases Three and Four (subject to council permission).  We are running the project in conjunction with Hollingdean Development Trust who have ringfenced the money to ensure it will only be used for the Tia's Trees project.

We have also chosen to support SANDS especially in light of recent research which found that eleven babies a day are stillborn and the UK have one of the highest rates in the Westernised world: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-13068789

SANDS also support bereaved parents and carry out research into the causes of stillbirth and educate the medical profession in order to improve care for bereaved parents.

Thank you again for your support.
