Tall Ships Youth Trust
The Tall Ships Youth Trust is the world’s oldest, largest sail training charity for 12-25 year olds, taking 3,000 individuals to sea a year. It helps disadvantaged and disabled young people to develop their self-confidence and life skills, to develop a healthier more active lifestyle and to start volunteering. James (16) "I’m always being told that I’m trouble, that I’m not good at anything - but my voyage changed all that. I’ve learnt how to work in a team, that discipline gets things done and above all I can do all sorts of things I didn’t know I could." Ellie’s Mum (daughter has Downs Syndrome) "This is the first time Ellie has been assessed on her ability not her disability. From the moment she stepped on board she was accepted as part of the crew. It truly changed her life". The Trust has a fleet of 6 vessels - 60m tall ship, 4 x 22m ocean going yachts and a 19m catamaran. Over 100,000 individuals have sailed 1.9 million nautical miles with the Trust.

London to Venice for Andrew Kelly

Martin Spann, Charles Holmes

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

Thomas Andrew Kelly Q.C, beloved by friends and family and respected by colleagues after a long and distinguished legal career, passed away after a short illness on 3rd April 2011.

As a tribute to Andrew we are raising funds for two causes that were close to his heart, good friends Martin Spann and Charlie Holmes will be donning their best lycra and riding a bicycle over 1,000 miles to Venice in under three weeks.

Setting off from where he  lived, Warwick Square, London, Martin and Charlie will brave the mountains and motorways of Western Europe before (hopefully) arriving at the place he loved, St Mark's Square, Venice.

Both have never ridden this far before and will be embarking on this long journey in aid of the Tall Ships Youth Trust and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

A keen yachtsman and great believer in the positive effect of sport and activity on young people, Andrew put this beliefs into practice through his charitable actions. He sponsored Mike Perham, a keen Tall Ships Youth Trust supporter, in his successful quest to become the youngest person to sail single handedly around the world, and the work of charities such as the Tall Ships Youth Trust is something Andrew truly believed in.

The Trust offers once in a lifetime opportunities to young people of all backgrounds in the UK, through the crewing of ocean going sail vessels, to help them realise their true potential. They take over 3,000 people sailing every year and on average over 70% of the Young People are disadvantaged or disabled.

The second charity that Martin and Charlie are raising money for is the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

A lifelong cat lover and great believer in the welfare of animals, Andrew was a keen supporter of the work of the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Close to where Andrew resided for so many years, the Home dedicates all funds raised to the protection and care of animals and because of this, it's a great cause and the perfect charity to remember Andrew by.

Both charities are honourable causes that Andrew would have been proud to support. We hope that you're able to show the same support for Martin and Charlie in their quest to honour the memory of Andrew, and raise plenty of money in the process.

This message is for anyone who feels connected to Andrew’s vision and wishes to support the work carried out by both these worthwhile causes. It is an invitation to all of you to contribute financially to London to Venice for Andrew.

Thank you.
