Charities
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families. It runs nine Marie Curie Hospices across the UK offering free specialist care for patients and support for families. The charity conducts palliative care research to find better ways of caring for terminally ill people and also funds scientists who investigate the causes and treatments of cancer. Charity Registration No 207994 (England & Wales) and SC0 38731 (Scotland)
Highland Hospice is the only hospice serving adults with incurable life limiting disease in the Highlands of Scotland and is acknowledged as the centre of specialist palliative care expertise in the region. A full multidisciplinary team is employed to provide true holistic care and comprises medical and nursing staff, occupational, physio and complementary therapists, a chaplain and family support workers. The Hospice currently provides a 10 bed In Patient Unit in Inverness and a Day Hospice on the same site. Medical staff, working closely with NHS colleagues, provide a consultancy service within Raigmore and community hospitals as well as visiting patients at home throughout the Highlands. The Hospice also provides bereavement counselling for relatives, a 24 hour telephone helpline and education and training for other healthcare professionals to enhance their ability to provide palliative care in their own communities. While the majority of the referred patients have cancer, the Hospice services are open to those with other incurable life-limiting diseases including, for example, lung, kidney or heart disease and neurological conditions. The area covered by the Hospice stretches from Dalwhinnie in the south, east to Forres, west to Ardnamurchan, Lochalsh and Skye and north to John O’Groats and Cape Wrath. This area is 10,000 square miles. Highland Hospice relies on the generosity of the Highland community to raise the more than £42,000 that is required every week to keep the services going and to ensure that an exceptional quality of care continues to be provided.

Trans-Mission Mongolia 2012's fundraising p
Hi, thanks for visiting our page.
Garry Campbell, Jonathan Coats and Quintin Stevens will embark upon a journey that will see them cross over 9000 miles of rugged terrain in often extreme weather conditions to raise money for four highly commendable charities: Marie Curie, Highland Hospice, Mind and the Raigmore Hospital Renal Unit.
Keen trail biking enthusiasts, the three longtime friends have deliberately selected a route that is thwarted with danger, travelling both on and off road across unfamiliar territory and terrain.
Leaving from The STOREHOUSE – an 18th century graded restaurant and farm shop in Evanton, Scottish Highlands – the 9000-mile route will take the bikers south to Newcastle upon Tyne where they will board a ferry to Amsterdam. From then on their only transportation will be the three Yamaha XT660Z motorcycles used to carry them across Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Siberia and into Mongolia, before finally disembarking in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. The whole trip will take a month.
Unpredictable climate conditions, camping in unknown provinces, dangerous off-road terrain and both physical and mental exhaustion are just a few of the challenges that lie ahead – but challenges all three biker’s will relish in order to raise an estimated £50,000 for their chosen charities.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
