Charities
For over 60 years UNICEF has been the world's leader for children, working on the ground in more than 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
Scene & Heard is a unique mentoring project that partners the inner-city children of Somers Town, London with volunteer theatre professionals. Each child is provided with quality one-to-one adult attention and an experience of personal success through the process of writing their own plays and seeing them performed by professional actors.

Twelveathon
The Twelveathon is now completed! But I'm still happily accepting donations until the beginning of November. Thank you thank you thank you for all you have given so far. I really can't believe how well we've done and I am stupidly, crazily, moistly grateful to you all. xx
We still seem to be in something of a massive economic slump. Its hard for us all to deal with, but often particularly hard for children – who not only have to cope with the effects at home, but are also more reliant on the sort of support and services that often lose funding during a recession.
Children all over the world are affected and I wanted to do something to help. Naturally, some sort of charitable fundraisey thing seemed appropriate.
I’ve done a little running before, but now its time to step up. Times are tough. And when times are tough, the tough get going. Going in a tough way.
So in 2012, I’ll be running 12 marathons to try and raise £12,000 for two charities that do fantastic work for children across the world (UNICEF) and just up the road from me in London (Scene & Heard). This, ladies and gentlemen, will be my Twelveathon.
The marathons
8 January - Walt Disney World Marathon, Florida (DONE! 5hrs 24min)
4 March - Cambridge Boundary Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 19min)
24 March - Sussex Coast Marathon (DONE! 7hrs 29min)
15 April - Brighton Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 12min)
22 April - London Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 7min)
7 May - Belfast Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 18min)
27 May - Edinburgh Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 10min)
10 June - The Wales Marathon, Tenby (DONE! 5 hrs 19min)

23 September - Hans Christian Andersen Marathon, Odense (DONE! 4hrs 53min)
30 September - Berlin Marathon (DONE! 5hrs 4min)
Twelveathon - DONE!
There will be pain, there will be chafing, but there will be joy as well. Not mine, obviously - but joy nonetheless.
Its going to be a long slog, but every pound you donate will be like a charitable steroid boosting my knackered limbs. Please donate whatever you can and make the sacrifice of my knees worthwhile.
