Joshua Orphan and Community Care - Joshua Orphan and Community Care is a Malawi-based charity for orphan care working in nineteen isolated rural communities around Blantyre. We support community-driven sustainable development projects to assist HIV/AIDS orphans, vulnerable children, and their families in Malawi. With its close ties to the communities and support from donors, Joshua has constructed 17 feeding centres, a secondary school, 4 classroom blocks, drilled bore holes and sponsors over 120 youngsters in education. Its staff live and work in Malawi and take great pride in working closely with local people and organisations. Joshua Orphan and Community Care is supported by a board of trustees based in the UK.

Walk For Malawi

19 September 2010

Every day in Malawi children walk miles to collect water, harvest food, attend school and go to work. Join Joshua on the 19th September for a roller-coaster ride over arguably one ofthe highlights of the South Downs walking 8.5 or 20 miles from Eastbourne - Alfriston - Eastbourne. The children in Malawi are eager to learn, however it is common that many are orphaned or their families cannot afford secondary school fees. For every £240 raised, a child will be able to attend Joshua's very own secondary school for four years and get a life changing education.

Can't make the WALK FOR MALAWI event on the 19th September but would like to donate virtual miles?

£1 = 1 mile with a virtual distance of 4889miles between the South Downs and Pensulo village.  Help us reach out to Malawi and reach our £4889 target.  This is enough to send over 100 children to Secondary School for an entire year.

Secondary School is not free in Malawi and many children cannot afford school fees.  At Joshua's very own secondary school we can give children the gift of education through sponsorship where otherwise they would normally be refused.
