Wales Air Ambulance
Wales Air Ambulance saves time and saves lives. The charity provides vital air cover across the whole of Wales for life-threatening illness or injury. Its 3 red and green helicopters are confronted with a diverse and challenging landscape, but from mountain tops to city roads, Wales Air Ambulance can reach any corner of Wales within just 20 minutes. The fast response times and access to such difficult locations increases the chances of getting to a hospital within the Golden Hour. This is the first sixty minutes after trauma, and a patient’s chances of survival and an early recovery are greatly improved if they receive the most appropriate care within this crucial hour. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Wales Air Ambulance has responded to more than 14,500 missions since its launch on St David's Day 2001. Each mission costs approximately £1500. The charity relies solely on public donations to raise over £5 million every year to keep the air ambulances flying for Wales.
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity
The Midlands Air Ambulance is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the Midlands and Welsh borders and the largest air ambulance patrol region in the UK. Since 1991, the Charity has completed more than 30,000 mercy mission averaging 3,500 per year or nearly ten each day making it one of the longest established and busiest Air Ambulance organisations in the UK. In the last ten months alone, it has attended 1048 road traffic accidents on some of the most congested motorway networks in the country, responded to 175 industrial accidents, 432 sporting injuries completed 100 emergency hospital transfers and airlifted 188 children. The Charity’s three aircraft each carries a crew comprising Pilot, two Paramedics or Flight Doctor plus full life-support medical equipment, operating from strategically located regional air bases. The maximum flying time to hospital from anywhere in the region is less than 15 minutes. What it is not widely known is that Midlands Air Ambulance receives no government or National Lottery funding, so the £5.6 million needed each year to keep its 3 Air Ambulances operational is donated entirely by the public and local businesses with 1 in 10 of those we help funded by Gifts in Wills. If a patient reaches hospital within 60 minutes of injury, their chances of survival are dramatically increased. That is why the rapid response of The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is so vital in an emergency situation. The Charity is fortunate to count on tremendous public support and good will, but never takes this for granted. Winning and keeping hearts and minds is an essential and constant challenge. That is why it regards the real ‘helicopter heroes’ as not only the flight and medic crews, but those, often unsung, ground heroes, its fund raisers. The Charity re-branded as the Midlands Air Ambulance to emphasise its regional identity and appeal.
Healing The Wounds
Healing the Wounds is a Welsh Armed Forces charity, registration number 1134594, raising funds to provide treatment for PTSD and a much needed facility within Wales for our Armed Forces Personnel, Veterans and their families.

Walking with donkeys fundraising page

Fundraiser:
Annie Clift

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/walkingwithdonkeys

Annie and Wiz Clift are sisters, two of the Knightwick Witches, passionate about the countryside and its traditions, real local food and are quite clearly barking mad.

With this in mind, they are undertaking a challenge in 2012 to walk nearly 250 miles from Wiz's house in Llangernyw in North Wales, to Annie's Hotel, The Talbot at Knightwick, Worcestershire using ancient droving tracks - with three donkeys! They will be walking for two weeks and will arrive at The Talbot on Easter Sunday (donkeys, Easter - get it?).

They will be fundraising for the Air Ambulance (splitting this between the Wales and Midlands branches); Healing the Wounds (supporting Welsh servicemen and women) - and (offline unless we can get it onto Virgin Giving) Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land.

You can see more about Annie and Wiz, why they are doing this and their progress on www.walkingwithdonkeys.com.

Please give genrously, and if you can see them en route, walk with them for a while, have a drink with them at the pubs and coaching inns they will be visiting - and please offer accommodation for them and the donkeys if you can.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor Annie and Wiz and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
