2010 Virgin London Marathon

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hello ! Thanks for visiting our London Marathon sponsorship page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us following our wonderful London Marathon run, completed on 25th April 2010. We are raising money for Children With Leukaemia (CWL). You can donate by clicking on the "Donate now" button on the right.

We are really grateful for the fantastic response to our sponsorship requests. We are doing really well working towards our £2,500 target and very grateful for all the support received that has helped us raise money.

We really enjoyed meeting those involved with CWL during the London Marathon. Anyone watching will probably have seen the bright Mr Men t-shirts / hats. The run itself was a memorable experience, we were amazed by the support and very pleased to see our family in the crowd 3 times on the route. We managed to achieve our target time, running in 4 hours 27 minutes, not bad for middle aged first timers !

It's impossible to thank everyone here, but big thank you's go to : Cyril and his friends, Dixon Walsh (Accountants - Taunton), Somerset Care and all its generous staff, Two Moors primary school, Tiverton URC and Methodist churches, parents and staff at St John's RC school (Tiverton). A special thank you to our family (long-suffering wives !), friends and neighbours.
