Charities
Who are we? Earthwatch is an international environmental charity which engages people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. What do we do? We fund a range of projects concerned with combatting climate change, protecting marine environments, preserving the cultural heritage of environmental hotspots and ensuring the worlds biodiversity is maintained and enhanced. Why fundraise for Earthwatch? Our long-term research and the sheer dedication and hard work of our teams in the field leads to impressive results and groundbreaking findings. By directly supporting field research and educating and engaging thousands of people, Earthwatch has made a significant contribution to achieving a sustainable environment over the past 40 years. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact us. Greenpeace stands for positive change through action. We defend the natural world and promote peace. We investigate, expose and confront environmental abuse by governments and corporations around the world. We champion environmentally responsible and socially just solutions, including scientific and technical innovation. Our goal is to ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity. We organise public campaigns: - for preventing climate change by ending our addiction to polluting fuels and promoting clean, renewable and efficient energy - for the protection of oceans and ancient forests - for the elimination of toxic chemicals - against the release of genetically modified organisms into nature - for nuclear disarmament and an end to nuclear contamination. Greenpeace does not solicit or accept funding from governments, corporations or political parties. Greenpeace neither seeks nor accepts donations which could compromise our independence, aims, objectives or integrity. Greenpeace relies on the voluntary donations of individual supporters, and on grant-support from foundations. We are committed to the principles of non-violence, political independence and internationalism. In exposing threats to the environment and in working to find solutions, Greenpeace has no permanent allies or enemies.

What we are doing:
As some of you may be aware, our latest challenge is the London to Brighton ultra marathon running event happening on 11th September 2011. Send us money and love, before jj pegs it!! :)
It would be great to get some support and money together for some causes that are a force for positive change on our planet.
Why sponsor us:
We are bombarded each and every day with reminders of the destruction and problems that we are causing to ourselves and all life on this planet. Recent studies show that one in 10 species could face extinction by the year 2100 if current climate change impacts continue. Wouldn't it be nice to contribute to reducing the decline of our environment so that life can continue to thrive.
We appreciate that it may not be in our best interest (the human race in general) to populate the forests of Eastern Europe with monsters of a bygone age in the name of species diversity, but it does seem a little short-sighted to us to create an environment that is polluted so that many existing life forms cannot be supported.
Please give what you can, organic, vegan, raw brownies (Gourmet Raw are preferred :) ) are also accepted and please contact us for a postal address if this is your preferred choice!
