Martin House
Martin House Children's Hospice provides care for children and young people with progressive, life-limiting illnesses and offers support to their families across Yorkshire. We need to raise £4.9 million annually to run the service we provide at our purpose built hospice in Boston Spa near Wetherby. The aim of Martin House is to provide family-led care in a home from home environment. It is a place where children, young people and their families can stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. Thank you for thinking about Martin House. Your support is much appreciated. Every penny counts!
The Candlelighters Trust
Yorkshire's pre-eminent childhood cancer charity supporting children, teenagers and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, lives are turned upside down in an instrant. Not just for the child but for their parents, siblings and family friends. Priorities change and everyday concerns sudddenly seem trivial. Getting well again can be a long and challenging journey, physically emotionally and even financially. Helping and supporting those children and their families throughout that journey is why Candlelighters was formed more than 40 years ago and it is why we are still here today. The charity was founded and is still run by parents of children who have or have had cancer or leukaemia and the medical staff who treat them. This means that we understand the trauma and the turmoil of that diagnosis and how the support and care needed may differ from family to family. Whether it be through the support of our friendly staff and experienced counsellors, that "home away from home" environment we nurture on the ward in Leeds, or the vital research into new treatments, we are here to help. go to www.candlelighters.org.uk

Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

On 15 th March 11 mums will embark on a 5 km assault course run by the army in Leeds. The event is called The Major Series. Our team is called The Wharfedale Warriors.

Sarah Buckley is completing this challenge in memory of her son Harry Buckley, whom died age 6 1/2 from Neuroblastoma cancer.

Rachel Marshal is also completing this challenge in memory of her son Oliver Marshall whom died age 4 1/2 from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Shelley Johnston and Heidi Hunter also want to complete this challenge and raise some money at the same time for the charities Candlelighters and Martin House Hospice.

Candlelighters supported both Harry and Oliver and their families through their cancer journey. Oliver died in hospital, whilst undergoing treatment following a relapse. Harry and his family were supported by Martin house too on their journey through palliative care and in the months following his death.

The day of the challenge is poignant being Mother's Day. A day where our MISS of our little heroes will be felt more so.

Any donation is greatly appreciated.

Come on girls, lets get muddy!
