The Charlie Sumption Memorial Fund
The CSMF fund was set up by the Sumption Family to commemorate our brother, Charlie. We wanted to do something that he would have been hugely excited by and proud of. The result is a fund which helps kids in Africa access valuable education, and a town to improve its resources. We are a small organisation, but thanks to efforts of our volunteers, have raised tens of thousands of pounds - and you can be sure that every penny and effort counts. So get involved - be inspired!

Will Young's Cycle Tour of Ireland for CSMF

Fundraiser:
William Young

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/williamyoung

Thank you to everyone who supported the recent attempt to cycle the coast of Ireland. After starting off up the Antrim coastal path, we cycled through a lightning storm in Connemara, were chased by dogs on a daily basis and even had to fix broken baggage racks with a camera case strap. However, 16 days and 120’000 calories later we finished the 1500 mile journey.

The trip has raised over £3500 so far, so thank you to all the people who kindly made donations to the Charlie Sumption Memorial Fund. It is a relatively small charity, so your donations will make a big difference to the amount of support they can offer the students at the school in Mutunyi (Kenya) over the next few years.

The Charlie Sumption Memorial Fund (CSMF) was set up by a friend of mine and his brother, to commemorate and celebrate their late younger brother Charlie. The fund is set up to help young people at the Mutunyi Primary School in northern Kenya, an area heavily affected by aids and famine. The CSMF offers scholarships to selected students from the school to continue on to secondary education, when otherwise they could not afford it. There can only be a couple of scholarships awarded each year, so the competition for places is huge. The principal of CSMF is that young people can be given the opportunities for fulfilling their potential, when so many do not. As many of us have had the chance to continue our education, it would be a great thing if we can provide the means for others to do the same. For more information on the CSMF, please follow the link below.

12.04.11 Top tip from Ireland's greatest racing cyclist, Stephen Roche: stick a steak down the shorts when the pain gets too much, then cook and eat for supper. Deeply envious. Enjoy!

11.04.11 I think that it will start quite easy, then it will be more difficult, however you will get into your stride. Towards the end I suspect that it will be gruelling. I have therefore devised a scheme to incentivise you to complete those last tough miles.
