Exercise Bike-A-Thon

26 February 2010

Nursing and medical staff from the Haematology Centre, RD&E Hospital and Exeter Leukaemia Fund are organising a sponsored exercise bike-a-thon on Friday 26th February 2010. Starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm the marathon event will be held in the reception area of the Centre. Members of staff will be taking it in turns to keep the “wheels turning” for a total of 6 hours, including ELF CEO Dale Edwards. The bike being used is one of two bought by the charity as part of the ELF Physical Well Being Programme. Not only is it hoped that £1,000 plus will be raised but it will give an opportunity to test the equipment to enable staff to talk about the benefits of exercise for blood cancer rehabilitation. Neil Toghill, Matron: “This is a great idea of one of my staff nurses, Emily Scarle, to enable us to raise money, learn more and get a little fitter. I am looking forward to my stint.”
