I've just created a page to fundraise for my record attempt - I'm goingto try to beat the world record for eating Jaffa Cakes in a minute. I've tried, and I reckon I can beat it - problem is I'm meant to be watching my weight, so I'm not sure how much practice I'll be getting in beforehand!
Anyone got any ideas on where to do this (preferably in Norfolk somewhere)? Apparently for it to count it has to be in a 'publicly accessible place' - might be nice to give out some free jaffa cakes and things. Anyone have any ideas?
Jeremy - Great suggestion. I'll get a letter off to McVities next week!
Paul - thanks for the link. Funnily, this is where I started - watched the video of that chap breaking the world record (currently 6 whole Jaffas in one minute) and figured I could beat it.
Had a test run a short while ago and I can definitely trough 7 in a minute...
Hi Tom
Read your post with interest! We're a charity www.worldhorsewelfare.org based with our head office in Norfolk (Snetterton, just off the A11). We're open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays - perhaps we could make your record attempt into a little fundraiser?! A few of my colleagues love Jaffa Cakes, and would probably be happy to join you. Get in touch if you are interested...
Hi Melanie (and welcome to VMG) - that's a great idea, I'll definitely get in touch!
Now to find some professional sportspeople who are qualified in the correct operation of a stopwatch (yes, that's what Guiness World Records ask for)...
Well I've emailed McVities but not heard anything back, yet. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
@Melanie as for setting a date, I'm glad you're all raring to go! I'm thinking some point in the new year perhaps - just to give us all time to get ready and make sure everyone can make the same date (and also to get some official timekeepers involved!). What do you think? When would your venue be available?
