Blogging about your 2010 Virgin London Marathon training is a great idea, not only does it give you a record of your training on the way to marathon day, but helps to tell your story to your friends, family and supporters.
There are some good free blogging web-sites out there that you can create a blog with, such as Wordpress, Typepad, and Blogger. These all allow you to get up and blogging in minutes and have some great extras like twitter integration and photo galleries too.
Another really good place to consider is creating a blog over at the Virgin London Marathon web site. There’s a huge community of both experienced and fist time runners like yourself who are blogging about their training and experiences. By creating your own blog there you can take advantage of the route planning tool and training guides available, and join in with the community discussions with fellow runners. Here's an example of a great blog on the Virgin London Marathon web-site (Tales of a running Chick). To create a blog you need a realbuzz.com account, if you don't have one you can sign up here.
Most importantly make sure you add a link to your blog on your Virgin Money Giving fundraising page and update the description of what you are doing. Over on the blog make sure you add a button to your fundraising page too. There's a guide showing you how to do that here.
Best of luck with your Marathon training and fundraising!
I've blogged at Realbuzz since 2006 (Look Good, Run Good blog). It's the official(??) VLM blog which is accessible via the vlm site or at Realbuzz.com. Realbuzz is excellent as a community. Brilliant people, brilliant races like the VLM!
Firstly thanks to all who have had a look at me blog...secondly apologies to all those who have looked at me blog and expected some updates!!!
I have been exceptionally lame in keeping things up to date but not for want or trying.....time is the major factor, that and a lack of broadband connection at home .....so I am stealing a few minutes work time to put the word out that I am still alive....
Training is goinbg well at the moment although I would say I am about two weeks behind where I want to be therefore some stepping up is to be done....also a lot is currently being done by judgement rather than accurate measurement having lost my pedometer somewhere between my house and Hengistbury head!!! No matter.....keep running until I hit a different county and I reckon I'll be there!!
So thats it for now as I can see me boss coming my way so I'll continue the undercover blog tomorrow with an update on tonights run!!
