Hi Charlotte and YST Runners,
I have never been on a Forum before but thought Id start by saying that I have never run a Marathon before and I am training really hard following the Virgin plan, It would be really nice to know about everyone who is running for the YST, and how far you have run?, and If you have run a Marathon or half Marathon before?
So far I have set up my fundraising page and I have also put up posters and collection boxes at work, I am waiting for the sponsor forms which can then go round family and friends that do not sponsor online.
Thats enough about me for now

Hi Lisa and others,
We are in the same boat... I too am running my first marathon here and have literally only been running around 10 months.
I still haven't decided if I like it or not... I'm sure crossing the finishing line in London and raising money for YST will feel so good I know every mile trained will be worth it.
I have been following an Addidas shedule using a Micoach trainer... it's pretty good and sees me out 4 times per week clocking up around 30-35 miles.
The longest I've gone so far in one go is 17 miles, which hurt alot, but I have a couple of guru's who tell me I'm ahead of the game with 80+ days to go so that's good. I think the longest run of the schedule is 21-22 miles which is late March at some point.
Is anyone else taking on the half at Silverstone in March?
Hi everybody, looks like we have a pair of dark horses to watch here. Lisa training "really hard" and Steven, 17 miles already is good going and sounds like you've got a solid base for the big day. How are you structuring your sessions? speed work, tempo runs, hills etc?
Not doing the Silverstone half I'm afraid. It's a fair old trek to Silverstone and by March I want to be squeezing a 20 miler in at the weekends. I've been running for a few years now and tackled a few half marathons before but this will be the first over 26 miles so want to add this to the list of things to say I've done before the knees finally give up on me.
Good luck with the training and stay injury free!

Hi All
I can assure you Andrew I am no dark horse, so far I have managed to run 9 miles, running a bit further each week on a Sunday, I have my 1st half marathon next weekend 6th Feb which is local to where I live. I am running short runs 3 nights a week mainly sprinting and back down into a jog. I then do a longer run 1 night for around 75 minutes at present, and then my longest run on a Sunday which is around 90 minutes.
Well done Stephen on your 17 miles, what a great achievement already, and I thought my 9 miles was good being a third of the way there lol, and no im not going to make the half marathon either.
Catch up soon
Lisa
Nice one Lisa and good luck with the half marathon on the 6th! Hope the weather (and the course) is kind to you.

Hello everyone
I was wondering if anyone was running the Silverstone half marathon next weekend with YST?
It seems pretty difficult to get to unless you have a car, if anyone is driving from the greater London area I will be more that happy to split petrol costs. I don't have a car myself so I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
I am happy to meet at any train station if that helps.
Looking forward to meet you at the Marathon April.
Rowan
Hello everyone, hope the training and fundraising is going well - not too many blisters and pulled muscles!
If you are in need of a little light relief as you as you notch up the miles, take a look at the attached video on you tube (I'm a runner).... guaranteed to make you smile and question your sanity in running the marathon.

Good luck for the 17th!
