I recently organised a gig to raise extra funds and support what I'd already done. I have friends who are in a band who were only too happy to do it for free, and I got in touch with a local venue who are looking to increase the amount of gig nights that they do. I publicised on facebook, and local "what's on" type websites, and the venue put the details of the night in their monthly guide and on their website. My husband DJ'd using his ipod and the band played for around 1.5 hours, we charged £5 on the door and took £270, £120 of which is going to cover costs for staff and the PA system, and the rest- £150- has gone to the BHF! And we all had fun in the process!
This is definitely something that I would do again!
