Okay, so I’ve done really well and hit my goal with fundraising, so I’ve raised it a bit more. My plan worked out much better than I hoped, so I wanted to share it for people to adapt and replicate!
I’ve been doing baked goods ever since moving over to England. At first it was because I didn’t have a lot of money and wanted to bring along something to parties, etc, that was appreciated. I realized after I decided to run for the National Autistic Society that I could “sell” my baked goods for extra profit. But I also thought that people might be interested in winning baked goods of their own. So this is what I did:
- I let people have access to my tin of cookies for £1.00 on Fridays at work/at the pub, etc.
- This ALSO gets them one raffle ticket to be put into a weekly drawing for a coupon for me to bake for them whenever they turn it in.
- BUT if they just sponsor me for £20.00 they get a coupon outright and no pestering for access to the cookie tin.
Surprisingly not many people have declined a baking coupon for £20.00 plus a cookie or brownie once a week. It’s contributed to 50% of my goal.
Anyone else done something similar? I know bake sales are a great way to raise funds and are very inexpensive!

My office is very small but in the building there are other offices with more people. Yesterday I asked a few office managers if I could bake cupcakes to put in their offices and asked how many staff were in each office...then last night I baked a lots of cupcakes.
I printed off a sheet to leave by the cakes with the following details:
* Charity logo (Mind)
* Cake details and minimum donation (£1)
* London to Paris cycle challenge info
* Photo of me on a bike (so they can put a face to the fundraiser)
* Link to my my Virgin money giving website
I prepared jam jars for the money, again with the charity logo, cake details and minimum donation.
The office manager offered to email her staff so I sent her an email with a link to my donations page (just in case!) as well as details of the cakes (as that is what I think the staff will be interested in!)
I am really interested to see how well the cakes sell...and am impatiently waiting for the afternoon to go up and collect it.
