SKY DIVE by myself (for Parkinsons UK)

I’m doing a Skydive on the 1st of September to raise money for Parkinsons Uk. My grandad, Brian Haskell, passed away a few weeks ago and he had Parkinson’s a illness which is not very nice to watch a loved one have to deal with (visit http://www.parkinsons.org.uk to learn about what Parkinson is and the effect it has on people).

I am going to do this Skydive in memory of my beautiful Grandad. He would probably be laughing his socks off if I told him that I was going to do this but I want to show him and everyone I have as much determination as he did because he really is a star and a inspiration to me and to a lot of people.

To me my Grandad was just my lovely Grandad who loved to see his granddaughters and his children, but it was not until recently that I discovered how much of a star he had been in the cycling world (despite seeing him jet off to numerous races during my childhood years) . My Grandad was a top cyclist, UK known! He received the prestigious CA Rhodes Memorial Trophy to mark his dedication and contribution to cycling. My Grandad rode the Warsaw to Prague race four times and won the King of the Mountains in 1959, a feat he repeated in the Tour of Britain. He also won the Tour of Ireland twice as well as countless regional and national titles. He took part in many other races and it was not until a couple of years ago that he completely stopped racing!

Im trying to raise at least £500 for Parkinsons UK. Donations however small will be much appreciated every penny does count and it will really help me to get up in that plane and jump out of it, terrifying or what!

Visit My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ZoeGilchrist Please donate

Thanks Zoe Gilchrist

Changing Designated Charities Mid Event

My son is about to conclude a gruelling long-term fundraising event. His chosen recipient charity has from the outset been stated on his donation pages. My son selected this charity because it was undertaking ground breaking research work into a medical condition from which I am suffering and which will inevitably lead to my own death (at the age of 50 rather than after a 'normal' lifespan.) He has currently raised about £ 15,000 and he will soon close the event.

The ground breaking research work was being undertaken by a small team and that team was/is led by a specific individual who is acknowledged by all to be a world leader in his field. My own treatment is being managed by this individual and his team.

There have been recent changes made to the structure of the NHS which are soon to result in this individual switching department internally and by doing so moving out of the department covered by the currently selected charity. This originally selected charity has publically stated that it will not be persuing the research work relevant to my condition. How do we change designated charity mid-event to follow the intended recipient? No donors would object - in fact quite the opposite - they would want the money to follow my Consultant.

24-hour gaming marathon

I'm organising a 24-hour gaming marathon for the Sick Kid's Hospital in Edinburgh. I'm hoping this won't just be a personal challenge, but quite a few people will sign up for it. Thing is, I can only set up a personal challenge on VMG, so I really don't know how to promote the event. I wish I could post the event on VMG so that people I don't know could sign up to it. I've had quite a lot of interest already on forums...

Any ideas for tips? I set up a blog at http://sickkidssavepoint.blogspot.com/

My fundraising

I've just created a page to fundraise for my record attempt - I'm goingto try to beat the world record for eating Jaffa Cakes in a minute. I've tried, and I reckon I can beat it - problem is I'm meant to be watching my weight, so I'm not sure how much practice I'll be getting in beforehand!

Anyone got any ideas on where to do this (preferably in Norfolk somewhere)? Apparently for it to count it has to be in a 'publicly accessible place' - might be nice to give out some free jaffa cakes and things. Anyone have any ideas?
