Supporting In Other Starry Night Ball

Supporting In Other Starry Night Ball

Why we need your help

“In Other Words, present to you our Starry Night Ball at Dartmoor Zoo. Bringing you a fantastic night filled with delicious delights, aerial artistes and spectacular speeches in order to fundraise for an early intervention mental health support group for Primary aged children.
Pick out your best sparkly shoes and dance away your blues!”
When: Saturday 23rd November 6-11:30pm
Where: Dartmoor Zoo, Sparkwell, Plymouth PL7 5DG
Who: In Other Words are a group of young people with lived experience of mental health issues. Aged 14 years plus they have the dream of creating another mental health support group for primary aged children. In Other Words, recognised that although mental health is now talked about at an earlier age, there is still a lack of support for the children and their families. Money raised from the ball will go towards funding a group specifically for these younger children, offering an additional outlet to the children and their families. The group will enable In Other Words, with Routeways, to support those younger than themselves and teach them the tools they wished they had as adults.
Routeways are a local Plymouth based Charity, working to support children, young people and their families where there is a risk of disadvantage whether that be through mental health, disability or poverty. They offer fun, inclusive, age appropriate groups from birth to 25 years providing physical and emotional support for children, young people and their families who are struggling with the effects of both physical and or learning disability and or associated mental health and wellbeing needs.
Mark Collings, Chief Executive of Routeways said “the work of In Other Words in promoting and supporting positive mental health with their peers has been amazing, we are delighted to support them to develop their work with much younger children. We know 8 out of 10 teachers say mental health in pupils is deteriorating, we need to offer support early to prevent children reaching crisis. This ball organised by our young people will help us raise valuable funds to continue their good work. We are very grateful for guidance and support from Dartmoor Zoo, the Felber Foundation and Livewell South West CAMHS.”
