Build on Books Christmas Appeal 2019

Why we need your help

Please think of Build on Books in your Christmas Giving As always 100% of your donation will be used to make a real difference to some of the world's most impoverished children as soon as possible!
We have just returned from visiting our projects in Sierra Leone and it was magical. Everywhere we went, we found people were celebrating because our recent Build on Books projects are making their lives so much better.
The people of Pepel island were really dancing for joy because they now have 4 lovely new boreholes giving everyone fresh, clean water.  At last, their children are safe from typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
Thousands of children in Kwama were celebrating their new solar-powered as they now have somewhere well lit to study in the evening.
Teachers who have been given funds to go to teachers college and get their qualifications were delighted as they now have the chance to receive a government salary.
The Ebola orphans, mudslide and flood victims were proud show us how well they are doing and share their hopes and dreams for the future.
The children at Rogbere Primary School gave us fruits and vegetables they had grown to show us how happy they are with their new school building, toilets and borehole.
The children from IYBAS primary even came in on their day off to greet us and give us gifts to show how much they appreciate their new borehole.
We all couldn't be happier with what has been achieved with your donations, and it feels extra special because 100% of your donations have gone to doing good work. This policy will continue into 2020 and beyond.
We don't spend your funds on admin or salaries because we want to spend it all on saving lives and giving children a better chance at a brighter future as we have done for 10 years.
So when you are planning your Christmas giving, please think of Build on Books where your help always makes a difference.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
Lori Spragg and everyone at Build on Books in the UK and in Sierra Leone

All of us at Build on Books really appreciate your help this Christmas.  Your donations help us to continue to change the lives of some of the world's most impoverished children in 2020. Over the past 10 years Build on Books has given water, sanitation, classrooms, teacher training, libraries, books, pens, science equipment, clothing, food, humanitarian aid, farming, goats, rice drying floors, school  furniture and whatever else has been needed to help children in Sierra Leone to survive and reach their full potential.

We can really see the results!!

Ten years ago, when we started illiteracy in the western area was the norm, and very few children had ever been able to read a book. Teachers were struggling to cope with overcrowded and under-equipped classrooms. Life expectancy for children and babies was very low due to a lack of clean water and sanitation. Life is still hard for many families in Sierra Leone. Nevertheless, wherever we work, the impact is huge, and people appreciate it.

In fact, our team have just returned from visiting our projects in Sierra Leone. Wherever we went, we found people celebrating because Build on Books projects are making their lives so much better. The people of Pepel island were really dancing for joy because they now have 4 lovely new boreholes giving everyone fresh, clean water. At last, their children are safe from typhoid and other waterborne diseases. Thousands of children in Kwama were celebrating their new solar-powered as they now have somewhere well lit to study in the evening and lots of books.Teachers who have been given funds to go to teachers college and get their qualifications were delighted as they now have the chance to receive a government salary. The Ebola orphans, mudslide and flood victims were proud to tell us how well they are doing and share their hopes and dreams for the future. The children at Rogbere Primary School gave us fruits and vegetables they had grown to show us how happy they are with their new school building, toilets and borehole.

The children from IYBAS primary even came in on their day off to greet us and give us gifts to show how much they appreciate their new borehole.

In the last financial year, we raised £39,000, and we all couldn't be happier with what has been achieved with your donations, especially as 100% of them have gone to doing good work. This policy will continue into 2020 and beyond so that we can continue to save lives and give children a better chance for a brighter future as we have done for the past 10 years.

So please, when you are planning your Christmas giving, think of Build on Books. Your help will always make a difference.

We have big plans for 2020, including building a new Learning Centre for adult literacy and skills training plus schools outreach.  We also need to build at least one more borehole, and we must continue to ship books, school furniture and other resources and even builds classrooms. We will also continue to help the Ebola orphans with their education and well being

So please give whatever you can!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderfully happy new year!
