Why we need your help

ESMAI'S HOLIDAY HAVEN - TARGET £50,000

Esmai is a remarkable little girl with a life limiting condition. She has severe brain damage, cerebral palsy, and uncontrolled serious epilepsy. She is nil by mouth and peg fed and has a permanent line to her heart to administer life-saving medication.

Esmai’s medical needs mean that it is difficult for her family to spend time away together.  This fundraising page has been set up by Esmai’s Grandma to help raise money for a 3-bedroom fully adapted caravan at a local holiday park.  In partnership with the Dorset Childrens Foundation she wants to offer holidays free of charge to families of children with complex needs.  This honours the bravery and sheer fight of Esmai and other children with complex conditions and is about turning a dream into a reality by offering an enjoyable holiday in our local area to families that just need a break.

As Esmai’s Grandma explains…..

“As a family we love to spend some time together away from the hustle and bustle but since having Esmai this is proving so tricky.  Holidays now involve finding expensive, specially adapted accommodation which can store medication and medical equipment, and a ramp for a wheelchair.  If Esmai gets sick, we need to be near our local hospital.  Medical staff in other areas do not know her, and if she needed emergency care in Devon or Cornwall she could be sent to Bristol or further afield.  We are not alone with this in Dorset as many families face this same struggle, so a much-needed break doesn't happen which makes me very sad.

I had an idea about buying a holiday home and letting families supported by the Dorset Children's Foundation have a holiday that's fun and in the local area.

Let’s give local families something to look forward to, when sometimes things can look very bleak, with constant hospital visits and appointments and battles for equipment and treatment.  Let's give them a chance to have some fun as a family without having to worry about a single thing apart from what exciting thing to do next.  We are going to provide them with food to self-cater, an entertainment pass and some local fun days out and hey we may even chuck in a little money behind the bar so Mummy's and Daddy's can have a well-deserved tipple.

Please give generously and help us to buy this holiday caravan for our families so they can make some happy memories that will last a lifetime.

Any ideas for fundraising would also be appreciated and we welcome donations from local companies including raffle prizes or days out for our families.
