New vehicle for Bethany Children's home
Why we need your help
We care for over 127 children (resident) as well as another 25 in further education/vocational stidies. We also have a Pre and Primary school with over 230 children (provided free).
Following the accident in February when we damaged our old Land Rover beyond repair we are looking to raise funds to buy a new Toyota Land Cruiser or similar.
We are the only organisation in our village and our vehicles (we have one very old Toyota Landcruiser as well as our now defunct Land rover) are used for a variety of purposes including use as an ambulance when any of our children or people from the village are sick.
We also use it for shopping, carrying firewood for our wood burning cookers (via a trailer) and sometimes fetching water from the lake when our pump breaks down. It is an essential lifeline when illness or accidents strike.
Our old Land Rover lasted for 23 years and ran for many thousands of miles. We expect the New vehicle/s to do the same and serve us for at least 20 years.
We intend to dedicate the new Toyota to 'Baraka Juma' (7 year old boy - resident at Bethany) who died at the scene of the accident.
