Act4Africa COVID-19 Appeal
Why we need your help
Help us protect communities living in poverty from the impact of COVID-19.
On the 11 June 2021, the Ugandan government declared a new national lock-down. COVID-19 cases are rising exponentially and the majority of deaths go unreported as many people can not afford to access healthcare in either government or private hospitals.
For those living in poverty, lockdown itself is a death sentence. Families are starving, unable to buy food without their meagre income.
The situation is desperately hard for those living in poverty in Uganda. That’s why we need your help to support our community during the ongoing pandemic: to bring food aid and health education to those who need it most.
To reach out to those who think they’ve been forgotten.
Please donate now and help us save lives.
Vital Food Aid
Act4Africa are working to provide emergency food aid to families who need it most.
Public Health Education
In poverty-stricken rural communities there is a dangerous information gap regarding the coronavirus. Here, harmful myths are spread in the absence of knowledge.
Act4Africa’s Ugandan team is experienced in engaging deeply with rural communities to deliver health education and raise awareness of the needs of young girls.
During the 2020 lockdown thousands of girls fell victim to unwanted pregnancy. Our team are working with the community to increase understanding of the need to protect girls at home.
Continued Access to Education
One of Act4Africa's main aims is to improve access to education for girls and children under 6. With schools closed again, we continue to deliver homelearning packs to our beneficiaries, together with hygiene materials and food for their families.
Act4Africa are at the frontline of action on the COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda. We have delivered food and hygiene parcels as well as life-saving information to the community and PPE to rural health centres, but there is an urgent need to do more. We are a small charity and work on a tight budget. Any donation will help us maintain critical services and respond rapidly to the growing need during this crisis.
