YMCA 2 6 Challenge

Why we need your help

Instead of watching the London Marathon in awe this Sunday, charities and supporters, across the country, will be taking part in challenges linked to the numbers 2 and 6 or 26 or 2.6. 

Join all of us at YMCA St Paul's Group as we take part in the

 2.6 Challenge to save the UK's charities

As a charity, we would love you to join us in this effort and be part of the YMCA St Paul's Group community. We are asking our teams, our residents, our nursery children and our youth project attendees, our members and all of our friends and family to get involved.

We may be socially distanced at the moment and limited in what we can do - but we can all come together this Sunday, as one, to celebrate the work of YMCA St Paul's Group and the positive impact we have on the vulnerable in our community.

Here’s 26 ideas to get you started:

  1. Make 26.2 cupcakes for your neighbours (or you could eat them all yourself!) 
  2. Nominate 26 friends to do the challenge – share a photo of your challenge and tag friends on social media asking them to choose their own activity and get involved. 
  3. Learn all 26 letters of the alphabet and record it for friends and family 
  4. Run, walk or cycle 2.6m or 2.6k as your daily exercise 
  5. Skip, hop or jump for 26 minutes 
  6. Hula hoop or do keepy uppies for 2.6 mins / 26 mins or a massive 2hrs 35mins 
  7. Do a full workout in reps of 26 
  8. Hold a plank for 26 seconds – 26 times! – or if you’re a pro for 2.6 mins! 
  9. Rally challenge – pass a ball 26 times straight with no drops 
  10. Be silent for 26 minutes or 2.6 hrs (2hrs 35 minutes) 
  11. Climb the stairs 26 times 
  12. Learn to juggle and keep it up for 26 seconds or 2.6 minutes without dropping one 
  13. Do some gardening for 26 minutes of 2hrs 35 minutes 
  14. Just be… take some time out for 2hrs 35, read a book, pray, or sit and just be. 
  15. Find and draw/photo 26 different things from the house or garden – how many bugs can you find? 
  16. Do 26 press ups – or 260! 
  17. Jump 26 times on the trampoline
  18. Get your pet to perform 26 tricks – or teach them 2.6 new tricks 
  19. Get 26 friends together for a 2hr 35min marathon relay – each do 6 mins of exercise back to back – you can make up the challenge for each person! 
  20. Donate £2.60 or share the challenge with 26 friends 
  21. Play 26 different games with your household 
  22. Walk 2.6km indoors – that’s 3,412 steps! 
  23. Put the music on and dance for 26 minutes 
  24. Wash your hands for 26 minutes or 26 times – lots of soap and water
  25. Read Psalm 26 and spend 26 minutes contemplating and reflecting in prayer
  26. Reach out to 26 people - text, phone or email- let them know you care!

Have fun and raise a bit for our brilliant cause along the way.
