Why we need your help
The Brunel Museum Covid-19 Crisis Appeal
The doors to our Museum, housed in Brunel's Engine House and the adjoining Brunel's Thames Tunnel Shaft in Rotherhithe, had to close in March. This followed government guidance on COVID -19, and for the timebeing we remain closed. For news of any changes keep an eye on our website: thebrunelmuseum.com.
When our doors closed, vital income stopped overnight and we are now struggling to cover our basic running costs for this incredibly important historic site, which needs regular care and attention whether closed or not.
The Museum is run by an independent charitable trust and receives no public funding. Every donation will make a difference and help to prevent permanent closure. For the timebeing, we have shaved our costs to the minimum, with our staff furloughed, so a donation of £30 will now cover our gas and oil for a month; a donation of £1,700 will pay for all our basic running costs for a month. When we are up and running again, our normal monthly running costs, including staff, are £10,000 and we are determined to recover and offer our visitors a safe and enjoyable experience as soon as possible.
Prior to us creating this Campaign Page, 44 generous supporters donated to the cause and cannot be shown in the usual way on this page.
