Why we need your help
Appeal for Kennel Fee's
On 24/06/20 Sue went to meet 2 older pups that have been dumped by the old hospital in Zakynthos. A very kind person had been feeding them but they were both in danger. Suspected to be brother and sister about 8/9 months old, with the female already suspected to be pregnant, most likely by her brother, as she had just finished her season.
Sue was devastated to leave them there as they were both so beautiful and friendly but with a back log of dogs waiting to travel due to the lockdown of Covid 19 she simply just does not have anywhere to put them. Many people say one more or two won't make any difference but realistically Sue is overcrowded and struggling with so many waiting to travel to their new homes as it is.
Sue left promising to try to help them both. Meanwhile news came in that the female had been picked up today 25/06/20 and taken to the vets to be sterilised. The lady doing so will keep her in foster and find her a home (she is not part of our rescue), although we have offered to help of course should she need us. Sadly though the male has been left behind and locals already do not want him there. He is likely to cause trouble left by himself or start to wander and cause mischief elsewhere looking for food. With no space to put an older male pup our only option is paid kennels until some have been transported to their new homes which, due to the backlog will take several weeks. As usual no offer of foster from the locals came in from the appeal last night.
So we are looking for funds to put him into paid kennels where he will be safe and can be prepared with vaccinations, sterilisation for travel so he too can have his "Happy Ever After"
Right now he will be feeling lost and lonely wondering where his sister has gone and why he is not with her. The two dogs have most likely been together all their lives and now he is alone. Can you imagine how he is feeling? It's heartbreaking if you really stop and think about it. We need to act quickly so he is safe and has a future before something terrible happens to him..
We should realistically look to cover 8 weeks kennel fee's so it gives us time to move the dogs we already have which have got homes to go to and to prepare him. His sister has already been given a name but for now this poor boy is just another stray with no name. Together I hope we can change this
