Digital Divide
Why we need your help
There are currently 1.8 million children in the UK without access to a device. The enforced national lockdown as a result of Covid-19 has exposed the growing 'digital divide' in our community.
It is estimated that since April, children who did not have access to remote learning devices during the lockdown period, fell behind in their studies by 6 months compared to those who had access to a device.
The Saracens Foundation supported by Bloomberg and spearheaded by Maro Itoje, has set out to tackle the digital divide issue in North London and Hertfordshire by making sure young people have access to appropriate devices for their home learning.
We have set ourselves an initial target to provide laptops to over 2000 disadvantaged school children to close the inequality gap.
Supported by large corporate companies, small and medium sized business and individual donations, we believe this can have a massive impace in the future life opportunities of young people.
As little as £20 could allow us to wipe and distribute 1 laptop to a student in need.
Anything you can donate will make a difference in closing the Digital Divide.
