Dynasty reunion for Long-Covid research
Why we need your help
Imagine waking up every day, feeling breathlessness, fatigue, muscle aches and not being able to remember much from the previous week. You call your doctor, who understands your symptoms, but has no treatment to help you. This is the reality for hundreds of thousands of people across the world, who are suffering from Long-Covid.
Currently, very little is known about Long-Covid and its long-lasting, debilitating symptoms. The stars of Dynasty, led by Emma Samms, a.k.a Fallon Carrington Colby, are reuniting in their 40th anniversary year in a virtual quiz, to raise money for ground-breaking our Long-Covid research.
They need your help
NHS researchers in Bristol are working with partners across the world to study Long-Covid, its causes, symptoms and possible therapies to help sufferers. The project relies on your donations.
In March 2020, researchers at North Bristol NHS Trust began monitoring patients who had tested positive for Covid-19.
They found that even three months on, 74% of patients reported ongoing symptoms related to Covid-19 including breathlessness, fatigue and muscle aches.
Working in partnership with Yale University, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Bristol this global project aims to understand how ‘overactive’ immunity may be leading to extended activation of T-cells (the white blood cells which work in several different ways to help protect us from diseases like Covid-19), months after they would be expected to return to normal.
North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the few places in the UK that is licensed to grow the Covid-19 virus in its labs, meaning its research will have a long-lasting worldwide influence.
Thank you for your support
