What makes Christmas special? Sending christmas cards, giving presents, decorating the tree, enjoying a traditional Christmas roast dinner or perhaps getting together with friends and family?

At Christmas time the challenges of living with dementia can be particularly acute; the simplest things such as buying, writing and sending a Christmas card can prove an uphill struggle.

This coupled with the changes in routine, food and surroundings that the festivities bring, can make Christmas a challenging time and put partners and families under tremendous pressure.

YoungDementia UK helps younger people and their families throughout the Christmas period and beyond. We will be there to listen to and support those affected by young onset dementia before, during and after Christmas. There is no other national service solely dedicated to people with young onset dementia and their families.

Members of YoungDementia UK will be sharing stories about living with young onset dementia and supporting people with young onset dementia at Christmas. By telling these stories we want to highlight the difference tailored support can make.Find them on our Facebook page and at

We want to ensure that no one faces young onset dementia alone. Please help us to reach out to everyone who needs us in 2016. Please spare what you can and support our Christmas appeal.
