2021 Walkfest Angel Walk

Why we need your help

On Saturday 18 September 2021, a team of Angels are treading the stunning Surrey countryside by following the ancient route of pilgrims along the North Downs Way - the long distance national trail that runs from Farnham to Canterbury Cathedral. Our modern day Angels will be walking the 20km stretch between Guildford to Farnham to raise much needed funds for Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy's Street and Community Angels projects, as part of Guildford's annual walking festival, Walkfest.

OUR ANGELIC TEAM: Michael-More Molyneux, Sarah More-Molyneux, Lizzie Toulson, Chris Britton, Noelle Coe, Ben Pitt, Anne Thornton, Louise Kenyon, Christine Howard, Gordon Jackson, Ken Bare, Joan Wells , James Thornton, Martyn Parker, Andrew Coe, Andrew Povey, Chris Burchell, Peter Bond, James Hanson & growing....

Guildford Street Angels are better known for patrolling their cobbled High Street, bringing a calming presence to the night-time economy, which they have been doing since 2008 every Friday and Saturday night between 10.30pm and 4am, assisting some 5,000 people every year, providing a hospitable and practical presence in the town centre, reducing the risk of agression and crime. They seek to reassure, offer practical help and enable people to get home safely. They give flip flops for broken heals, foil blankets to protect against hypothermia, offer a listening ear, recharge mobile phones and signpost people to other services.

Their much in demand sister project, Community Angels, tackles loneliness and isolation by befriending vulnerable adults, providing compassionate support to reconnect them with the local community.

Guildford Walkfest is now in its 14th year and offers a full month of free walks to celebrate the beautiful borough in which we live.  The festival is run by volunteers from all the different walking groups represented in the borough, including the Surrey Hills Society, who will be guiding the Angels in this sponsored walk.

All donations to encourage us on our way are most welcome!

To take part in the walk with us, simply register by visiiting www.surreyhillssociety.org.uk/events, then share the link to this page with your friends to invite them to sponsor you - we would love to enjoy the route with you!
