Covid Bursary Fund
Why we need your help
Today is a time of great uncertainty for many children orphaned by Covid in India. These children are extremely vulnerable, having faced the unimaginable trauma of losing both parents and in some cases all other suitable carers to the virus. Some of these children have family living in the UK who wish to adopt them. Our Covid Bursary Fund will help these families provide the loving home children orphaned in India now so desperately need.
Preparing, assessing and supporting any prospective adopters is a costly service. When a child in the UK is adopted from care, this cost is met by government. When a child is adopted from abroad, even by a relative, the adoptive parents must pay these fees, of around £25,000 - an enormous outlay that none of these families could have anticipated or planned for.
As a charity focussed on improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children, we struggle with being unable to support these families as we know a child’s life would be better in terms of love, stability, education and health if they were able to join their families here.
Our Covid Bursary Fund will provide financial support to families in the UK who wish to adopt their child relatives orphaned by Covid in India. We wish to help these vulnerable children so they may overcome the devastating circumstances caused by the pandemic, heal and achieve their potential.
