Archaeology for well-being.

Why we need your help

Our charity aims to improve the wellbeing and employability of disadvantaged, vulnerable or socially isolated people by participating in heritage based projects. Together with our partners at Bradford University, we will be running an archaeological excavation on the site of a C12th Priory in Yorkshire and our participants will be NHS workers who are in need of a break from frontline duties.  44% of NHS staff are unwell with work related stress, anxiety and exhaustion. As a result of the relentless efforts to tackle Covid, more than 300 NHS workers attempted suicide in 2020.

Participating in heritage based activities, especially archaeology, has been shown to improved well-being and provide people with an environment that offers tranquility, teamwork, time to reflect and process your experiences and have a break, all within a setting that values your contribution, increasing your self-worth and confidence.

This project is a chance to turn our clap for the NHS into a truly meaningful experience.

For this we are asking for your help....
