Woodlarks Santa's Grotto
Why we need your help
Our Santa’s Grotto is run every year, it is purely for children with a very wide range of additional needs from specialist schools or children’s hospices who might benefit from the high level of sensory interaction.
The Grotto is assembled and run entirely by a group of friends who are exceptionally enthusiastic and freely give up an enormous amount of time to make the event something very special. Our friends volunteer for all of the work as well as trying to raise the necessary funds needed to make this a truly magical festive event. We hope that the grotto and all of the interactive areas as well as the decorations, lights, snow machines and everything else that is put together will give many inspirational children a truly memorable experience and to have as much fun as possible during their visit here.
We provide a present up to the value of £15 per child with this present being of their choice. We cover all costs and make no charge to any of Santa’s guests. Some of the children who attend have sensory issues and cannot visit a grotto on the High Street as they are overwhelmed by noise and being surrounded by too many people. Here at the Grotto we can cater for this, working with school staff and parents to ensure there are not too many people around, noise is to a minimum and each child visits Santa in a festive welcoming environment, with carers who know them, understand their needs and make sure their visit is rewarding, fun and safe.
The event is for groups who will have used the camp site or who may benefit from the sites facilities in future and is by invite only.
Any support you can give to help make this event happen will be very much appreciated. There are no labour costs as everyone involved is a volunteer so every penny raised goes to make this something truly special.
