Bear Wood Appeal

Why we need your help

Bears once roamed our woodlands, help bring them back and protect native wildlife for future generations.

Bear Wood is an exciting new development due to open at Wild Place Project in 2019. The exhibit will transport guests back in time to when the woodland was inhabited by European brown bears, European wolves, Eurasian lynx and wolverine, showing the effects of woodland loss on our native animals. It is the story of what was, where we are now and what is still at stake.

British ancient woodland is the richest habitat for wildlife in the UK, providing a home for hundreds of species of animals and plants. 98% of British woodland has been destroyed due to climate change, urbanisation and intensive agriculture. Our native wildlife is now under threat and needs protecting.

Thank you for supporting the Bear Wood Appeal, protecting the future of our native wildlife and enabling us to inspire the next generation to care for our woodlands.

In appreciation of Dominic (car park) and Winter (office) in finding and restoring to me the wristwatch I lost in the car park on 21st July, a donation of 1 for each year I've worn it. I hope my grandchildren will bring me to Wild Place again soon.
